ShawnA Lucas, RP

Shawna has been working as a therapist for 26 years. During this time she has worked with hundreds of clients with severe mood disorders including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Personality Disorders, Schizophrenia, Schizo-Affective Disorder, Major Addiction Disorder, Prolonged Grief Disorder and Bipolar Disorder. She provides a welcoming, safe and confidential environment to explore challenging emotions. and has helped her clients find new meaning, purpose, hope, and identity.

Shawna’s experience and love of teaching, has led her to educating and supervising student therapists for the last 14 years. She has supervised at least 100 students directly in that time.

Shawna has a master’s degree in divinity and is currently working on her doctoral studies, with a thesis topic of Best Practises in Suicide Bereavement. She is also currently cross appointed as Sessional Faculty at Emmanuel College at the University of Toronto, and Martin Luther University College at Laurier University. Shawna has published an article on “Assessing Transcendent Experiences Versus Mental Illness” and has appeared on CBC’s radio program Tapestry.
